High-power output Electric TurboCharger(ETC)

IHI has been developing a high-power electric turbocharger(ETC) that achieves a 70kW-class output, one of the world‘s largest for a gas bearing motor based on the ETC technology for FCVs. This technology is expected to be applied to air conditioning systems for aircraft to improve system efficiency through energy recovery, air supply systems for fuel cell system, and many other applications.

With automotive-grade development and verification system for commercial vehicles, the recently launched 220kW high-power fuel cell system PRISMA XXII generates a continuous and reliable high-power output, rated at 220kW, scalable to 260kW. It can able to maintain continuous and steady operation at 95℃ and nondestructive cold start in extreme low temperatures of -30℃, with 8.42kg/100km hydrogen consumption and a design life of 30,000 hours realize the optimal cost of the whole life cycle.
